Theory

Theory

DESIGN (Unit 1: UI works, UX fails).

Research (Unit 2): real first-years Findings: તેઓ tech-confident CS students નહોતા પણ cheap phones પર નervous newcomers હતા (say-do gap: બધાએ કહ્યું કે fine છે, પણ અડધાએ date field પર give up કર્યું). આએ 2 personas produce કર્યા: Rahul, anxious first-year જેને simplicity જોઈએ છે, અને Priya, organiser જેને powerful overview જોઈએ છે. Date field અને unclear navigation top pain points હતા.

Theory

Design, અને visuals

Structure (Unit 3): card sorting એ reveal કર્યું કે students 'Register' ને 'Events' નીચે buried નહીં પણ front and centre અપેક્ષિત કરતા હતા, એટલે information architecture ને reorganise કરવામાં આવ્યું.

Theory

Validation, અને outcome

Validation (Unit 5): prototype પર 5 first-years સાથે usability testing.

Outcome: FestConnect એ students ગુમાવતા frustrating form થી smoother, inclusive product બન્યું જે more students complete કરે છે: features add કરવાથી નહીં, પણ users ને understand કરીને અને તેમના માટે design કરીને.

Quiz

  1. Existing screens પર more colourful decorations add કરવા

Fix એ full user-centered design PROCESS હતો: real users ને understand કરવા research (nervous first-years, date-field pain), તેમની આસપાસ structure/flow/visuals/accessibility નું redesign, અને testing અને iteration દ્વારા validation: exactly જે journey subject શીખવે છે. Option A surface decoration છે, જેણે ક્યારેય real (structural અને research-based) problems ને address ન કર્યા.

Think first

Interviewer તમને કહે છે 'walk me through a project'.

Show the answer

Outcome: result અને તમે શું શીખ્યા (smoother, inclusive registration; more completions). આ structure matter કરે છે કારણ કે એ show કરે છે કે તમે designer ની જેમ think કરો છો: evidence-driven, user-centered, reflective: માત્ર 'I made it pretty' નહીં. REASONING જ impress કરે છે; કોઈપણ what they did ને list કરી શકે છે.

Watch out

Case-study slips

Reasoning વગર actions ની listing: 'I changed the layout' weak છે; કહો WHY (research showed X), જે case study માટે જ છે.

Metrics invent કરવાં: real portfolio માં, honest data વાપરો; percentages fabricate ન કરો: outcomes ને truthfully અને directionally state કરો.

Theory

'UI is not UX' થી fully redesigned, tested, accessible FestConnect સુધી, તમે આખો user-centered design process run કર્યો છે. એ process: understand people, design for them, validate, repeat: એ UX design છે, અને એ તમે જે પણ product build કરશો તેના પર apply થાય છે, including જે platform પર તમે learn કરી રહ્યા છો તેના પર પણ.

Summary

Key takeaways

  • FestConnect journey: problem (lost registrations) -> research (personas, interviews, date-field pain).
  • Design: reorganised information architecture, shorter flow, date picker, feedback, clear navigation, wireframes તરીકે tested.
  • Visuals: terracotta-and-cream brand, readable type, Register પર visual hierarchy, consistency.
  • Validation: 5 users સાથે usability testing, findings પર iteration, accessibility (contrast, alt text, keyboard, not colour-only).
  • Memory hook: understand people, design for them, validate, repeat: એ UX છે.
