सोचिए एक library जहाँ books बस arrival date से piled हैं: कोई fiction section नहीं, कोई subject shelves नहीं, कोई labels नहीं। हर book वहाँ है, पर एक ढूँढना hopeless है।

FestConnect exactly यही हो सकता है: events, schedule, rules, my-registrations, contact, सब present पर badly organised, तो Rahul यह नहीं ढूँढ पाता कहाँ register करना है। कितने भी beautiful buttons इसे fix नहीं करते, क्योंकि problem surface से गहरी है: यह STRUCTURE है।

Information architecture (IA) content को organise, structure और label करने की practice है ताकि users information ढूँढ सकें और tasks पूरे कर सकें।

यह product का SKELETON है: good होने पर invisible, bad होने पर crippling। इसके main components:

  • organization: content कैसे grouped और categorised है (topic, task, या audience से)
  • labeling: चीज़ों को USER की language में naming करना, internal jargon में नहीं
  • navigation: users structure से कैसे move करते हैं (अगला lesson)
  • search: content directly ढूँढना

Card Sorting: Users को इसे Organise करने दीजिए

RIGHT structure कैसे discover करें? Guess करके नहीं: card sorting से। आप हर content piece को एक card पर लिखते हैं (Events, Schedule, My Registrations, Rules, Contact) और real users से इन्हें उस तरह GROUP और LABEL करने को कहते हैं जिस तरह वे expect करें।
