Group discussions - Conducting G.D on given topics (Oral Practical)

GD में speaking और listening दोनों का balance देखा जाता है: जल्दी और clear point के साथ enter करो, दूसरों के points पर build करो, politely disagree करो, और conclude करने में help करो।

Theory

जो सबसे ज़्यादा बोला, वो हार गया

एक campus placement GD, 8 students, topic: "AI will replace programmers."

Theory

Theory

Theory

Quiz

Discussion "online education" से भटककर किसी की holiday की कहानियों पर चली गई है। आप कहते हो: "Interesting, but let's come back to whether online exams are fair." तो अभी आपने कौन सा role play किया?

  1. Initiator
  2. Information giver
  3. Moderator
  4. Supporter
Show the answer

Moderator

Group को वापस topic पर ले आना moderation है, और evaluators इसे बहुत ज़्यादा rate करते हैं क्योंकि ये दिखाता है कि आपको सिर्फ अपने airtime की नहीं, पूरे GROUP के outcome की चिंता है। Initiator तो सिर्फ शुरुआत को frame करता है; आपने तो बीच में डूबती discussion को बचा लिया। एक अच्छा moderating move 3 साधारण points से ज़्यादा score कर सकता है।

Theory

Think first

पिछले speaker ने कहा कि "coding will be obsolete in five years," और आप इससे बिल्कुल disagree करते हो।

पहले अपने मन में GD-style में disagreement वाला sentence बनाओ, फिर tap करके compare करो।

Show the answer

Pattern यही है: पहले acknowledge करो, फिर एक reason के साथ IDEA को counter करो।

"I see Rahul's point about AI tools, but I have a different view: tools change WHO writes code, not whether coding skills matter, someone must still design and verify the logic."

कभी मत बोलो: "That's wrong" या ऐसा कुछ भी जो person पर target हो। Reason के साथ की गई polite dissent DOUBLE score करती है: इससे दोनों दिखते हैं, आपकी independent thinking भी और आपका team behaviour भी।

Quiz

कौन सा behaviour GD score को सबसे ज़्यादा नुकसान पहुँचाता है, चाहे speaker के points कितने भी excellent क्यों न हों?

  1. सिर्फ 3 या 4 बार बोलना
  2. दूसरों को interrupt करना और airtime पर हावी हो जाना
  3. भारी vocabulary की जगह simple English इस्तेमाल करना
  4. किसी और participant के idea से agree करना
Show the answer

दूसरों को interrupt करना और airtime पर हावी हो जाना

Domination और interruption सीधे उसी चीज़ पर हमला करते हैं जो GD measure करता है: teamwork। दूसरों को कुचलकर दिए गए सही points भी evaluator को ऐसे लगते हैं जैसे "brilliant तो है पर unmanageable है", और ज़्यादातर rubrics में इसका मतलब rejection ही है। कम airtime पर quality turns, plain English, और दूसरों पर build करना, ये सब तो positive points हैं।

Formula

Do's और don'ts, exam वाली list

Do: general awareness की तैयारी करो, normal volume में clearly बोलो, सिर्फ evaluator को नहीं, सभी members को देखते हुए (eye contact) बात करो, polite phrases इस्तेमाल करो ("I agree with...", "I see it differently..."), शांत members को invite करो, topic पर टिके रहो। Don't: interrupt मत करो, हावी मत बनो, ideas की जगह persons पर attack मत करो, topic से मत भटको, negative body language मत दिखाओ (crossed arms, phone देखना, bored चेहरा)।

Watch out

Summary

Key takeaways

  • GD एक timed, observed group talk है जो communication, thinking, listening और teamwork को एक साथ score करता है।
  • Shape: opening, discussion body, conclusion; और informal roles (initiator, clarifier, moderator, supporter) सब पर credit मिलता है।
  • Method: थोड़ा सोचो, जल्दी enter करो, हर turn पर एक organised point, दूसरों पर build करो, और summary में help करो।
  • Ideas से politely और reasons के साथ disagree करो; persons से कभी नहीं।
  • Memory hook: football trial, singing audition नहीं।
